Certification Efforts

Currently, Mark McKinley, the Polo Field's Golf Course Superintendent, is completing a Site Assessment and Environmental Plan provided by Audubon International. Based on the results of the initial assessment, stewardship projects are chosen and implemented. Once projects are implemented, Mark will evaluate their progress and document their results.

A committee has been formed in an effort to assist Mark with this project. Documentation is a large part of this project and it takes a great deal of time. If you are interested in joining the committee, please contact Mark McKinley at (734) 998-1555. The committee meets approximately every 2 months.

The web site you are currently viewing, a Flickr photo pool and a blog have been created as a means of communicating during this project. The links are provided above. Flickr is a free site that lets you upload photos to a folder or photo pool. Anyone can request permission to join the photo pool. This is a great way to get all of our photos in one location. Please remember that we need the following with each photo: the date the photo was taken, the time, the location on the course, and if possible - the species of the bird. Visit the Flickr site for more information.

The blog is a central location for communicating electronically. Anyone can join this free site and start communicating about the golf course, sightings, environment, wildlife or anything that may pertain to this project. Please note that any information or photos gathered from these sites may be used when applying for certification.
